SBS’s Sunshine series wins an award at AACTA Awards 2017

SBS’s  new vibrant, compelling and high-stakes crime drama series SUNSHINE  has won an award as best mini series at the Australian Academy Cinema Television Arts Awards (AACTA) 2017.
The four parts series has aired over two weeks on SBS television channel from mid-October 2017, depicting the story of a young African-Australian Basketball player Jacob Garang, played by Wally Elnour, a rising on-screen talent.

 

 

 

In the film, Jacob is an aspiring South Sudanese Basketball player dreaming of making it to American National Basketball Association (NBA), but his  dream hangs in the balance when he finds himself in the middle of a criminal investigation, being hunted by the police searching for the perpetrator of a violent assault that left a young teen-aged girl in a coma and many people fighting to prove their innocence.

Many seasoned Aussie actors contributed to the series including Kim Gyngell (Rake, Jack Irish),  Vince Colosimo (Jak Irish , Underbelly), Leah Vanderbeg (The Wrong  Girl), just to name a few .

 

AACTA awards took place today 6 December 2017 .
