African teams going for World Cup receive funding support from CAF

The 5 African countries going for world cup matches in Russia next will get financial support from African football body CAF. This is the first time for CAF to sponsor African team in the World cup.

CAF has announced that y that an ad hoc committee chaired by 1st Vice President recommended financial incentives to all five representatives from the continent to next summer’s world cup. The committee, which has CAF Executive Committee member Kalusha Bwalya and presidents of the Football Associations of the five qualified countries as members,
met in Moscow, Russia.

 

 

All the five teams including Nigeria , Senegal, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia will each get $500,000 from CAF.

A statement from CAF said, ”It was decided that CAF will grant a financial subsidy of $500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand dollars) to each of the five African teams. The financial package will be used mainly to strengthen and improve the technical supervision of each team.”

Also, CAF will provide each African representative with “fieldwiz” equipment, a technological device and physical performance measuring tool for outdoor team sports players,”

No Africa team has ever won the World cup.The best ever done was by Senegal in 2004 when it qualified for quarter finals but that is where it ended.
