Dr Mimmie Watts leaves VMC

Dr Mimmie Watts has left VMC commissioner position after four years of service.  Dr Mimmie joined VMC in 2016 and since then she has been one of the most active commissioners who has  passionately sought to reach out to the diverse communities of the state of Victoria.

 

In a comment she made on Linked in Dr Mimmie states: ” As I take my leave from this role, I would like to say thank you particularly to my family who over the last four years, supported me as I worked tirelessly to represent diverse voices from every community and walk of life across Victoria. I attended and participated at hundreds of events and in policy meetings. I listened to communities and decision makers. I advocated for funding towards your community initiatives”.

 

Dr Mimmie is an academic with a passion for community advocacy. She has diligently served the African-Australian  community for many years  and has championed the cause of African-Australian women in particular by organising the African Diaspora Women Summit in  2017 and 2018.
