Police in South Africa have arrested the youngest son of Robert Mugabe, the late leader of Zimbabwe, following a reported shooting incident at a luxury residence in Johannesburg.

Bellarmine Mugabe, 28, was taken into custody after a 23-year-old man, believed to be working as a gardener, sustained gunshot injuries. Authorities say the victim was wounded during the incident but survived.

Law enforcement officials who searched the property in Hyde Park—where Mugabe had been staying—reported recovering spent bullet casings. However, no firearm was found at the scene.

Bellarmine Mugabe is the youngest child of Robert Mugabe and his second wife, Grace Mugabe. The former Zimbabwean president, who died in 2019, ruled the country for 37 years before being removed from office in 2017 at the age of 93.
