Trevor Noah touring Australia

by  Africa Media Australia

Trevor Noah is the favourite South African comedian who has sold more DVDs than any other standup in Africa. Fans recite his performances verbatim, share his clips globally, and have joined him in legions on Facebook and Twitter.  Trevor Noah is a fascinating and funny new voice on the nature of race, thanks to his unique perspective on the world. He was born in the apartheid era to a black mum and a white Swiss father – even though such relationships were illegal at the time. The racial pecking order was so instilled in society that his own maternal grandfather called him ‘master’, even if it was tongue-in-cheek.

Trevor Noah’s explosion onto the world comedy scene has been nothing short of meteoric with huge success in the UK and the US.  His sharp wit, intelligent commentary, and unmistakable charm have established him as an extremely popular comedian with undoubted world-class potential. Noah had his U.S. television debut on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, which resulted in multiple invitations to return and appear in signature sketches. He toured America with stand-up comedian Gabriel Iglesias playing to packed houses, and headlined club venues winning over audiences at every stop.   Noah presented his one man show “The Racist” at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival (presented by Eddie Izzard) in a sold out run that created a huge buzz with audiences and critics.  Having just completed an unprecedented three month run across South Africa, Noah is appearing in a six week sold out run at London’s Soho Theatre.
