The Kontiki Cultural Women Empowerment Group is a voluntary sewing group that seeks to empower women and build their capacity by providing them with opportunities to learn sewing and display african attire. The Melbourne-based group prides itself on showcasing traditional African textiles as means to demonstrate the African culture and help african girls and women to build confidence. The project is led by Mrs Francess Sesay a talented woman from Sierra Leone who now calls Australia home.
