Witness cutting-edge couture from renowned designers such as Thebe Magugu, Imane Ayissi, IAMISIGO, Lisa Folawiyo, Lukhanyo Mdingi, and many others. The exhibition also spotlights local community and creatives, highlighting the vibrant cultural exchange within our city.

Curated by Dr. Christine Checinska of the V&A, the exhibition opened with a special performance titled “HAIR DAY,” curated by Dorcas Maphakela. This performance celebrated the unique and collective black salon experience in Australia, weaving together diverse stories and the rich tapestry of black hair culture.

Africa Fashion  is on display from 31 May to 6 October 2024 at NGV International, St Kilda Road, Melbourne. Admission fees apply. Further information and tickets are available via the NGV website: https://www.ngv.melbourne.

This exhibition, created by the @VAMuseum, is currently touring the world. Don’t miss the chance to experience this unparalleled celebration of African fashion and creativity.
