Minister for Multicultural Affairs Robin Scott has appointment Sisay Dinku as a Commissioner of the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC), which fills an existing four-year term vacancy in the leadership team. The appointment was announced on  Tuesday 9 May, 2017.

“Sisay’s knowledge and experience will be a valuable addition to the VMC team, particularly in the areas of employment and job recruitment in African communities.”, stated Robin Scott.

Mr Dinku’s appointment brings the number of VMC Commissioners to 11.

Mr Dinku – replacing Peter Khalil who resigned as a Commissioner last year to run for federal office – is a member of the Andrews Labor Government’s African Ministerial Taskforce, a current AFL community ambassador and has been a long-time advocate for migrant and multicultural communities in Victoria.

Currently a Regional Work for the Dole Manager with recruiter Sarina Russo, Mr Dinku has an extensive background in employment services as well as strong ties with the African community through various foundations and boards.

Mr Dinky’s term as Commissioner will expire at the end of August 2019.

The VMC – headed by Chair Helen Kapalos – is an independent body that speaks on behalf of Victoria’s diverse communities to inform government policy. It plays a key role in promoting participation, understanding, cohesion and harmony across the state.
