The Australia Awards Africa short course on Financing Climate Action recently concluded in Canberra, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between Australia and African nations. Developed and delivered by Curtin University, the course took place in both Perth and Canberra as part of the Australian Government’s development assistance program for Africa. This program provides access to postgraduate education, training, and professional development opportunities for suitably qualified Africans from eligible countries

A highlight of the course was a session led by Professor David Mickler from Curtin University, focusing on the role of academic diplomacy in strengthening Australia-Africa relations. The course itself was a collaborative effort, developed by a dedicated team of academics from Curtin University, led by Dr. Muammer Reza Bin Wali.
The closing ceremony was a distinguished event, attended by course participants and contributors alongside high commissioners and representatives from Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zambia. Officials from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade also joined the ceremony, underscoring the importance of international cooperation and the shared commitment to addressing climate action through education and professional development.
