All the changes for the lockdown in Victoria from Wednesday July 28th

The Victorian Government has announced there will be changes to COVID-19 restrictions from 11.59pm on Tuesday, 27 July 2021.

These are the important changes that apply across Victoria, as announced by Daniel Andrews, the Premier

Leaving home

  • The five reasons to leave home no longer apply. You can leave home for any reason.

Face masks

  • You need to wear a face mask whenever you leave home (indoors and outdoors).

Social gatherings

  • You cannot have visitors to your home, this includes front and backyards
  • Social gatherings can be held outside with up to 10 people – e.g. in a park or at the beach.

Religious gatherings, community facilities, weddings and funerals

  • A COVID Check-in Marshal must make sure all guests check-in
  • Places of worship can open with up to 100 people indoors and up to 300 people outdoors, with 1 person per 4 square metres
  • Funerals may be held with up to 50 people plus those needed to conduct the funeral
  • Weddings may be held with up to 50 people. Dancefloors are not permitted.
  • Community facilities can open with up to 100 patrons per indoor space and up to 300 patrons per outdoor space, with 1 person per 4 square metres. A COVID Check-in Marshal must ensure people check in.

Travel and accommodation

  • You can travel anywhere in Victoria
  • Accommodation can open with bookings only for single households, intimate partners or single bubbles
  • Anyone aged over 12 years travelling to the Victorian Alpine Resorts must have evidence of a negative COVID test within the previous 72 hours.

Work and education

  • If you can work from home, you should continue to work from home
  • Offices may reopen with up to 25 per cent capacity or up to 10 people, whichever is higher, with 1 person per 4 square metres. Check-in is required.
  • All school students will return to in-person schooling
  • Higher education and training students who can study from home, should study from home.

Leisure, entertainment, retail and hospitality

  • A COVID Check-in Marshal must make sure all visitors check-in in leisure, entertainment and hospitality venues
  • Leisure and entertainment venues can open with up to 100 patrons per indoor space, and 1 person per 4 square metres
  • Hospitality venues including cafes, bars and restaurants can open for seated service only with a total venue limit of 100 patrons
  • Groups of up to ten people allowed.
  • Retail can open with a density limit of 1 person per 4 sqm. QR code check-in is required.

Personal care

  • Hairdressing, beauty and personal care can open with up to 25 people. For more than 25 people, the maximum density is 1 person per 4 square metres.
  • Masks can be removed for facial services.
  • QR code check in is required.

Disability and care facilities

  • Visitors are only allowed for essential care and support, and in exceptional circumstances such as end-of-life reasons
  • Non-essential contractors are not permitted to work

These restrictions will be in place until 11.59pm on Tuesday, 10 August, subject to the public health advice at that time.
