Patience Masua is aged 22 and she is one of Africa’s youngest parliamentarians. This young female Namibian parliamentarian was recently sworn by the country’s Chief justice Peter Shivute as a member of National Assembly. Her appointment follows the resignation of the former Namibian defence minister, Peter Vilho.

Ms Masua holds a Bachelor of Laws LLB (Honours) from the University of Namibia and has served as the Secretary-General of the Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO). Previoiusly, she worked an Assistant in the Office of the SWAPO Party Chief Whip in the National Assembly.
Namibia is ranked 15 in the world in terms of the number of women in the parliament.
