Omar Farah is a Somali-born Australian who arrived in Australia more than 24 years ago. He has witnessed the arrival of many African communities and over the last few years he has been employed as a project officer at the Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre where he has had to deal, amongst other things, with the issue of unemployment and underemployment affecting african men from the Horn of Africa area. Omar’s work has provided him with significant knowledge and insights on the many hurdles that many african migrants and refugees face in obtaining employment.
