“In our heads, we are Young, Wild and Free (YWF)”…This is a statement made by a young African-Australian girl to describe how she and her friends feel when confronted by their African parents to satisfy cultural expectations from an African perspective. This statement, made from a Video that was posted about two months ago and that went viral on Facebook, caused a lot of reactions from both boys and girls, some agreeing with it and other opposing it.
