Assistant commissioner Luke Cornelius (Southern Metropolitan, Melbourne, Victoria) granted an interview to AMA’s Clyde Salumu Sharady on the sidelines of the African leadership development program. Amongst other things, the issue of racial profiling was raised in the interview, but the top police chief is confident that its ground force is policing behaviours and not race or the person. He added that the police is very seriously and proactively working to help build capabilities within new emerging communities, including african groups to help them become better citizens and work with the police to maintain law and order.
