The Organisation of African Communities in Western Australia (OACWA) has strongly condemned the recent anti-Semitic violence at Bondi Beach, expressing deep concern over the tragic incident and extending its sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives.

In a media release issued this week, OACWA stated that acts of violence driven by hatred inflict profound harm not only on individuals, but also on entire communities. The organisation emphasised that such actions have no place in Australia and fundamentally undermine the values of safety, respect, inclusion, and peaceful coexistence that define the nation’s multicultural society.

OACWA reaffirmed its solidarity with Jewish communities and all individuals affected by the incident, acknowledging the significant pain and distress caused, particularly within Jewish communities, while also recognising that the impact has been felt across Australia’s diverse population.

As the recognised peak body representing African communities across Western Australia, OACWA highlighted the importance of unity and compassion in moments of national grief. The organisation called for responsible public discourse and collective reflection, urging Australians to reject hatred in all its forms and to uphold the principles that bind communities together.

The statement further reaffirmed OACWA’s ongoing commitment to opposing anti-Semitism, racism, and all forms of hate. It underscored the responsibility shared by community leaders, institutions, and individuals alike to foster understanding, stand against intolerance, and promote social cohesion.

OACWA concluded by emphasising that Australia’s strength lies in its diversity, and that safeguarding harmony requires continuous effort, empathy, and moral courage. In standing with those affected by this tragedy, the organisation reiterated its resolve to contribute to a society where dignity, respect, and human life are protected and valued.
