Mentor Me ReConnect Program Celebrates Youth Achievement and Community Connection

by  Africa Media Australia

The Mentor Me ReConnect Program (MMRP) marked a powerful milestone this week with a celebration that brought together learning, community, and youth achievement, highlighting the impact of mentorship and collective support in shaping young leaders.

The day began with an educational excursion to Scitech in West Perth, where participating students engaged with hands-on science, innovation, and discovery. The experience encouraged curiosity and critical thinking, offering mentees an opportunity to explore learning beyond the classroom and connect with ideas that inspire future pathways.

Celebrations continued at the OACWA Community Hub in Nollamara, where mentees were officially welcomed into a space that represents inclusion, belonging, and opportunity for young people. It was here that students proudly received their graduation certificates, marking the successful completion of their journey through the program. A shared lunch followed, creating a warm and joyful environment that reflected the strong sense of community at the heart of MMRP.

A total of 87 students graduated from the program, representing Irene McCormack College and Aveley Secondary College. Throughout the year, these young people demonstrated enthusiasm, personal growth, and emerging leadership, reinforcing the importance of structured mentorship in supporting youth development.

Central to the success of the program were the dedicated mentors who consistently invested their time, energy, and guidance in each mentee. Their commitment played a vital role in shaping confidence, resilience, and direction among participants, leaving a lasting impact that extends beyond the program itself.

The celebration also acknowledged the vital contributions of families, teachers, and community partners who supported the students throughout their journey. Their collective involvement ensured that young people were nurtured not only academically, but also socially and personally.

Special recognition was given to the participating schools for their ongoing support of the Mentor Me ReConnect Program. Their commitment to enriching learning experiences through collaboration with community organisations reflects a shared vision of empowering students to thrive as learners and future leaders.

As the program reflects on a successful year, the Mentor Me ReConnect Program continues to grow from strength to strength. Looking ahead to 2026, there is strong optimism about expanding its reach and empowering even more young people.

The celebration stood as a reminder of what is possible when mentorship, education, and community come together — creating brighter futures, stronger connections, and a rising generation of confident leaders.
