The 2025 African Music and Cultural Festival (AMCF) concluded in Melbourne this past weekend, drawing a record attendance of 52,551 people to Federation Square. The event marks the festival’s largest turnout in its 12-year history.

The official proceedings were attended by Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan, who acknowledged the festival’s role in the state’s cultural landscape. The event also saw participation from other government representatives, including Federal Assistant Minister for Defence Peter Khalil and Victorian Multicultural Affairs Minister Ingrid Stitt.
The three-day festival featured musical performances, food vendors, and market stalls, transforming the central city precinct. A notable segment included performances by students from Greater Shepparton Secondary College and St George’s Primary School Shepparton, whose participation was highlighted by organisers.

The festival program also incorporated a community discussion panel focusing on youth support initiatives and a culinary competition centered on Jollof rice, a West African dish.
Organisers have announced dates for the next festival, scheduled for 20-22 November 2026.
