The event was attended by H.E. Amb Dr. Wilson Kogo, Kenyan High Commissioner in Canberra, Senator Paul Scarr, LNP Senator for Queensland, and Hermann Voster MP, Assistant Minister for Multicultural Affairs and International Students Attraction.
In her address, KIQ President highlighted the community’s contributions across business, law, medicine, and other sectors, describing the Kenyan diaspora in Queensland as “bridges: connecting Kenya to Australia, and Australia to Kenya.” She emphasized the importance of networks in fostering opportunity, mentorship, and cultural exchange.

“The power of connection is invaluable—whether it’s striking a business deal, offering an internship, or helping someone in need,” she said. “Tonight, we celebrate achievements, but we also reaffirm our commitment to our community and to building pathways for the next generation of leaders.”
The awards recognized individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the Kenyan-Australian community. Organizers described the evening as both a celebration of success and a platform for fostering stronger ties within the diaspora and with broader Australian society.
The Gala Ball concluded with expressions of gratitude to attendees and supporters, and KIQ leadership signaled ambitious plans for 2026 aimed at expanding community engagement and enhancing professional and cultural networks across Queensland.
